Summary: The incumbent will plan, assign, and supervise the work of the animators. The incumbent will ensure the team’s optimal performance and resolve and manage the situations that hinder the attainment of production goals by the animation team.
Missions: The main and routine tasks of the Lead Animation are to:
- Assess the workload and production capacity, plan the work, and establish priorities for the animation team
- Allocate duties and ensure follow-ups on the work of team members regarding the animation deliverables
- Communicate project objectives, strategies, and information to all team members so as to ensure the visibility of the progress of the game’s development and the other crafts
- Actively participate in project management decisions and supervise the necessary adjustments so that the animation team is able to attain its goals
- Follow up on performance and performance assessment
- Participate in team member selection
- Determine the schedules and vacation time of group members with the associate producer
- Manage conflicts within the team if necessary
- Supervise and plan periods to remedy the animation bugs identified by testers
- Create a work environment that fosters team motivation, development, and especially creation
- Support career advancement and suggest development and training sessions on technical and interpersonal skills to team members
- Carry out all related tasks
Training: College or University degree in game-oriented 3D animation technique combined with a project management certificate or any other equivalent training.
Relevant Experience: Minimum of 5 year experience as animator including two as team lead in animation. Experience in supervising an animation team is a great asset or any other relevant experience.

Creative Director at Spectrecom Films [London]
Spectrecom Films is looking for a London based freelance graphic designer to help develop a pitch for one of our existing major clients. We already have a history of producing high quality video work for our client, and now we are looking for an animated graphics partner to help us win this exciting new project.
The deadline for submission of the pitch is Friday 28th May, and we would require an experienced designer to start work with us no later than Tuesday 25th for an initial period of 3 days. Should Spectrecom win this important pitch with our client then the successful designer would be guaranteed a leading design position on this project at the designers regular daily rate. Please note that Spectrecom will cover development costs only at this stage which would be negotiated with the designer that is chosen on the strength of his / her previous work.
If commissioned, this project will be undertaken for a large International luxury brand. As such, it’s crucial that the designer we select should have a meticulous eye for detail and sense of perfection.
A large part of this project would be to supply animated logos and designs that have a fluid sense of motion. As such the chosen designer will have completed high quality motion graphics for leading UK brands.
It is crucial that the selected designer will be able to quickly understand and visually implement the clients brand guidelines (which will be given once the job commences), and should have the imagination and ability to visualise that branding so that the company’s core values are clearly communicated to the audience. This job will require ideas, design and technical excellence.
The selected designer would benefit from working the 3 day development period from our Waterloo studios where the project can be managed by our Head of Post Production. Alternatively you may prefer to work from home, but we would need to see regular progress updates to ensure that the work is moving in the right direction.

2D Facial Animator required at LAIKA (makers of Coraline)

Job Description
The 2D Facial Animator creates facial expressions, extremes and phonemes for stop motion animated characters. 2D designs and animation need to convey emotion, movement, action and personality, specifically focusing on lip sync. This position requires a level of sophistication of technique on a feature film level.
Note: This position will be located on-site at our Studio in Oregon. When sending samples, include a demo reel with 2D Animation lip sync samples, as well as expression sheet and turnarounds.
Essential Job Functions
- Block in rough facial animation and phonemes for Director and/or Facial Animation Supervisor for their approval.
- Work with Director and/or Facial Animation Supervisor to finalize animation.
- Meet animation production deadlines as established by management.
- Create facial expressions and extremes conveying emotion, movement, action and personality.
- Read and break down dialogue tracks and plan shots.
- Work with Directors on creating teeth and skull designs.
- Work with Facial Animation Supervisor and Director of RP in making sure 2D animations fit within the Stop Motion pipeline
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant area of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years experience as a 2D Facial Animator in the entertainment industry.
- Experience working on a fully animated theatrically released Stop Motion and/or CG feature film a plus.
- Strong understanding of traditional animation principles.
- Ability to bring characters to life.
- Stop Motion animation experience a plus.

3D Studio Max Realtime Modeller/ Animator @inition East London
We are a London based 3d company focused on the cutting edge of 3D (stereographic) and innovative real time solutions such as augmented reality. We are looking for skilled and reliable 3D Artists with a solid understanding of real-time modelling and animation, with a supporting technical mind in order to integrate content into our interactive applications (3D Studio Max is preferred, though Maya considered). A grasp of stereoscopic 3D, and/or experience of 2D to 3D conversion is also desirable. The term of work is not determined, though the successful candidate would likely find themselves with a substantial source of work, as well as experience in interesting fields.
The candidate must be available to work from our East London offices to be considered, as most of our projects will require guidance and teamwork, and the position will be starting as soon as possible.
