3D Animation Director

Tonic DNA is the collaboration of directors and animators to produce high quality content for over 35 years.

The 3D animation director would join our advertising department: a friendly team that works on a multitude of projects in various styles (short films, advertising, or original content).

Responsibilities And Duties of the 3D Animation Director

  • Defines the creative style of a project’s animation.
  • Defines and implements techniques and processes
  • Ensures that the animation team is motivated to achieve the highest standards possible within the parameters of the production plan.
  • Evaluates and casts animators to characters/sequences/shots that best suit to their skill set.
  • Define the standard for animations at every stage, from concept to delivery.
  • Produce high-quality animation to create compelling, story-driven shots that fit within the style and pacing of the project.
  • Animating both primary and secondary characters and elements
  • Ongoing communication with Production and Lead regarding schedules and deadlines
  • Collaborates with creative and technical staff to ensure animation feasibility within the confines of schedule and budget.
  • Collaborates with Producer and HR on managing performance. Responsible for completing artist’s performance reviews.
  • Attends meetings and coordinates efforts with other production staff and supervisors to facilitate optimal production flow.
  • Provides vision, feedback, motivation and support to the team.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring and training as necessary.
  • Partners with production management in tracking and ensuring the on-time delivery
  • Guides animators to creatively enhance material in order to achieve set standards of performance and complexity.
  • Interprets, implements, and facilitates notes and feedback from Clients in a timely manner.
  • Provide daily feedback and direction to the animation team.
  • Adheres to digital file management protocols.
  • Interacts respectfully and professionally with colleagues, staff members and clients.

 

Qualifications And Skills

  • Highly skilled in 3D animation. Traditional animation & stop animation a plus.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in using Maya is required. Motion builder a plus.
  • Must demonstrate outstanding storytelling, filmmaking, creative and artistic abilities.
  • Entitled to work in Canada

Position is permanent. Working from home is possible. We ask the person to be present a minimum of one day per week at the studio to participate in team meetings.
