Job Description

Deep Silver Dambuster Studios have an exciting opportunity within their highly talented and experienced Animation department for a Motion Capture Animator.

If you have a passion for motion capture, character animation and cinematics and have 2+ years’ experience in the motion capture industry then please get in touch!


Installing and calibrating an Optitrak mocap system, as well as setting up actors, props, real-time viz, environments, and other setting required to run the mocap session smoothly.
Setup a full body performance capture and ensure that Mocap, Facial and Audio recordings are always of the highest standards, integration is smooth and highlight any possible risks during the session.
Process, calibrate and edit mocap data using Motive, Ikinema and Motion Builder and import animations into Maya rigs
Create and maintain tools and pipelines to process and edit motion capture using Motive, Ikinema, Motion builder and Maya
Support the Animation team with any mocap requirements and mocap tools and pipelines they might need.
Work productively with other teams/specialities, particularly technical animators, effectively communicating ideas, and problem solving
Offer solutions to maximise the efficiency, contribute to the overall development of the project and raise any other issues that may need to be addressed
Complete all tasks in a timely manner and to a consistent high quality standard.
Demonstrate a desire to learn and grow professionally

Experience for more than two years using Motion Capture technology
Experience setting up and supervising a mocap session and a full body performance session.
Experience processing and editing Body Motion Captured data and Facial capture data
Technical expertise using Motion Builder and Maya
Experience finishing photo-realistic motion captured animation in Maya
Good communication skills and a great team-player attitude
Passion for games and animation films


Pre-production and shooting schedule, renting and prepping motion capture equipment, and hiring or assigning additional crew is important.
Experience working with Optitrak and Motive
Experience capturing and processing facial animation using Faceware
Working knowledge of Unreal 4 and the according toolset
Experience writing Python tools and pipelines in Motion builder and Maya
Character Rigging and Facial rigging
Production experience developing a game
Technical understanding of game animation systems and character rigging
